Oregon State Fire Marshal Updates Interactive Fire Map as Flat Fire Rages in Central Oregon

Portland, Aug. 26, 2025 - The Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) today refreshed its online wildfire situation map, reflecting the latest status of the Flat Fire burning northeast of Sisters. The interactive map now shows the blaze at 21,971 acres and 5 percent containment, up from earlier estimates as crews make incremental progress against the flames.
Officials warn that the fire continues to threaten nearly 4,000 homes in Deschutes and Jefferson counties, with over 1,000 residences under mandatory evacuation orders. The updated map layers:
- Fire perimeters with real-time acreage figures
- Evacuation zones, including Level 3 “Go Now” and Level 2 “Be Set” areas
- Hotspot indicators for emerging fire activity
- Red Flag and heat advisory alerts issued by the National Weather Service
“Our structure protection resources are putting in long hours to protect communities near the fire,” the OSFM noted in an X post accompanying the map update. High temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds in the forecast through Wednesday have prompted a Red Flag warning in Central Oregon, all of which are clearly flagged on the interactive fire map.
Governor Tina Kotek’s invocation of the Emergency Conflagration Act last Friday continues to mobilize additional state and federal resources, now tallied on the map’s resource-tracking layer. As cooler overnight temperatures slow fire behavior, firefighters have established new control lines south of Sisters, reflected by the containment line updates.
Residents are encouraged to consult the OSFM’s fire map for up-to-date information and to heed all evacuation instructions. Emergency officials emphasize that conditions can change rapidly and that the map is the most authoritative source for real-time wildfire developments in Oregon.
