Red Sox Rally Late to Defeat Orioles 4-3 in Camden Yards Showdown

BALTIMORE - Jarren Duran’s three-run homer in the fifth inning broke a 3-1 deficit and powered the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The win gives Boston a 1-0 lead in the four-game series against their AL East foes.
Roman Anthony ignited the rally with a historic leadoff homer-his first in the majors-to stake Boston to an early 1-0 advantage. Baltimore responded when Colton Cowser belted a solo shot in the second and followed with a two-run single in the third, putting the hosts up 3-1.
Duran delivered the decisive blow in the fifth, launching his 13th home run of the season off starter Tomoyuki Sugano (10-6). The blast snapped Duran’s 17-game power drought and marked his second homer this month. Richard Fitts (2-4) took the loss despite yielding just four runs over his first four innings, while Garrett Whitlock preserved the slim margin by striking out the side in the eighth. Aroldis Chapman closed out his 25th save in 27 opportunities with a perfect ninth inning, extending his hitless streak to 13 appearances-the longest in Red Sox history.
Duran’s performance extended his on-base streak to 19 games, matching his career high and ranking as the longest active streak in the majors. Boston will send Lucas Giolito (8-2, 3.72 ERA) to the mound on Wednesday, while the Orioles counter with Kyle Bradish in his first start since returning from Tommy John surgery.
