Emmet Sheehan’s Masterful Start Powers Dodgers to 7-0 Shutout of Reds

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26, 2025 - Emmet Sheehan delivered his finest outing of the season, twirling seven shutout innings and matching a career-high 10 strikeouts as the Los Angeles Dodgers blanked the visiting Cincinnati Reds, 7-0, Monday night at Dodger Stadium.

Sheehan (5-2) yielded just two hits and one walk over his career-long stint, setting the tone for a dominant performance. Andy Pages provided all the offense the Dodgers would need, crushing two solo home runs-his 22nd in the third inning and 23rd in the fifth-and driving in four runs overall. Mookie Betts added a solo blast in the seventh, and Pages capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Hunter Greene (5-4) took the loss for Cincinnati, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks over five-plus innings with three strikeouts. Special teams miscues deepened the deficit: an Elly De La Cruz fielding error and an Austin Hays throwing error in the sixth inning plated two unearned runs.

Defensively, Dodgers outfielders Michael Conforto and Teoscar Hernández turned in stellar plays, robbing Reds hitters of extra-base hits and helping preserve Sheehan’s shutout bid. Conforto’s leaping catch at the wall in the second inning and Hernández’s back-to-the-plate snag in the third underscored a near-flawless performance in the field.

With the victory, Los Angeles moves into sole possession of first place in the National League West, while Cincinnati falls to third in the NL Central. The series continues Tuesday night with right-handers Nick Martinez for the Reds and Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers scheduled to face off.
