Rochester City Attorney Files Misdemeanor Charges Against Shiloh Hendrix

ROCHESTER, Minn. (Aug. 26, 2025) - The City Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that it will file three misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct against Shiloh Hendrix for directing racial slurs at an 8-year-old Black, autistic boy at Soldier’s Field Memorial Park in April¹.

City officials said assembling the case required extensive evidence gathering and multiple interviews, including with the victim’s family, whose privacy was difficult to protect amid widespread public scrutiny¹. The viral video of the April 28 incident showed Hendrix shouting the N-word at the boy and later at a bystander who intervened¹. Following the video’s release in early May, Hendrix raised more than $800,000 through an online fundraiser that drew contributions from white nationalist supporters¹.

“Given the significant attention and emotion surrounding this case, and its lasting impacts on communities of color, the city is committed to moving forward with an expedited but thorough legal process,” the City Attorney’s Office said in a statement¹.

Under Minnesota law, disorderly conduct may be charged when a person intentionally uses abusive or obscene language in a public place that is likely to provoke a violent reaction. If convicted on all three counts, Hendrix could face fines and up to 90 days in jail.

The Rochester Police Department completed its investigation in July and forwarded its findings to the City Attorney’s Office. A formal complaint is expected to be filed in Olmsted County District Court within the next week. Court records will remain sealed until charges are officially filed.
