Anaheim, CA (August 27, 2025) - The city of Anaheim experienced a tense morning as local law enforcement launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man’s body inside a residential home. Meanwhile, families gathered at the Haskett Branch of the Anaheim Public Library for a special storytime event designed to foster early literacy.
Anaheim Police Department officers were called to a home in north Anaheim on Monday afternoon after neighbors reported seeing evidence markers near what appeared to be blood stains on the driveway. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of an unidentified male, believed to be in his 40s, inside the residence. Sgt. Jon McClintock confirmed that the death is being treated as a homicide, though no details on the cause or any suspects have been released. Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying persons of interest. Despite the unsettling circumstances, police have assured residents there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Earlier in the day, the Anaheim Public Library hosted its weekly “Stepping-Up Storytime” at the Haskett Branch from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The program, aimed at children ages 3 to 7 and their caregivers, featured interactive read-alouds, sing-along songs, and finger-play activities. Library staff highlighted the importance of early literacy and community engagement, welcoming over 50 families to the event. Parents praised the library’s efforts to provide free educational programming and an inclusive space for young readers.
The homicide investigation remains active, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Anaheim Police Department Tip Line. Meanwhile, the Public Library continues its summer calendar of free events, with upcoming programs including a teen coding workshop and an arts-and-crafts session for all ages.
