Salt Lake City, UT - On August 27, 2025, Crumbl Cookies co-founder and Chief Branding Officer Sawyer Hemsley addressed mounting social media speculation by publicly confirming he is gay.

Following a viral TikTok by user Grant Gibbs on August 22 that amassed over 17 million views speculating about Hemsley’s sexuality, the entrepreneur released an Instagram video statement Monday night. “Over the past little while, there have been people online trying to define me, twist things, and share conversations in ways that feel harmful,” Hemsley said. “Instead of letting others write my story, I want to share it in my own words. The truth is, over the past few years I’ve come to understand and accept that I’m gay.”

Gibbs later apologized in a follow-up video, writing, “I’m genuinely sorry I clocked your tea in such a massive way, but I am really happy and proud of you sister” and celebrating Hemsley’s courage.
