Off-Duty Border Patrol Agent Isaiah Anthony Hodgson Found Dead

LOS ANGELES, August 27, 2025 - Isaiah Anthony Hodgson, a 29-year-old U.S. Border Patrol agent who had been charged with multiple felonies for an off-duty drunken incident in Long Beach, was found dead in his Hemet home on Friday, August 22. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the Valle Vista neighborhood at approximately 12:45 p.m. and discovered Hodgson unresponsive. No evidence of foul play was observed at the scene, and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause of death.

Hodgson had appeared in Long Beach court earlier that week, where he pleaded not guilty to seven charges stemming from a July 7 incident at Shoreline Village. Prosecutors alleged that Hodgson, who was off-duty and intoxicated, entered a women’s restroom at a popular restaurant brandishing a loaded, department-issued handgun. He then resisted arrest after Long Beach police officers arrived, injuring one officer in the struggle. The charges included three felony counts of resisting an executive officer, one felony count of battery with injury on a peace officer, one misdemeanor count of exhibiting a concealable firearm in public, one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm, and one misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm.

If convicted on all counts, Hodgson faced up to seven years in state prison. His next scheduled hearing was set for late September at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in Long Beach. In response to the charges, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated, “No one is above the law, regardless of their position or badge. Law enforcement officers have a responsibility to always conduct themselves with integrity and professionalism”.

A GoFundMe page established by Hodgson’s family confirmed his passing and is raising funds to cover funeral expenses. No further details about memorial services have been announced.
