Border Patrol Agent Isaiah Hodgson Found Dead in Riverside County Home

HEMET, Calif., Aug. 27, 2025 - U.S. Border Patrol Agent Isaiah Anthony Hodgson, 29, was found dead inside his residence in the Valle Vista area of unincorporated Hemet on Friday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced. Deputies responded to a welfare check at a home on the 25000 block of Avocet Circle around 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 22 and discovered Hodgson unresponsive. No evidence of foul play has been identified, and the official cause of death remains pending investigation.

Hodgson had faced multiple felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a July 7 incident in Shoreline Village, Long Beach, during which he was allegedly off-duty, intoxicated, and armed with a department-issued handgun. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, he entered a women’s restroom while carrying the firearm and later resisted arrest, injuring one Long Beach police officer. He was charged on July 11 with three counts of resisting an executive officer, one count of battery causing injury to a peace officer, and three firearms-related misdemeanors; his next court appearance was scheduled for late September.

Earlier in June, Hodgson had come under scrutiny for his involvement in the arrest of a U.S. citizen, Adrian Martinez, at a Pico Rivera Walmart parking lot. Martinez was detained after confronting federal immigration officers, who originally alleged he had struck them, though security footage did not corroborate those claims.

Long Beach police and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office have deferred further comment to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which continues to investigate Hodgson’s death. The case has renewed calls for enhanced mental health support and oversight for law enforcement officers serving in high-stress roles.
