Sicario to Leave Netflix at Month’s End

August 27, 2025 - In a surprising streaming shake-up announced today, Netflix revealed that Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed 2015 thriller Sicario will be removed from its platform on August 31, 2025. The film, which stars Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin and was directed by Denis Villeneuve, has been available on Netflix for several months but will soon depart the service.
The departure comes just days after renewed excitement over the potential development of a third installment in the Sicario franchise. Despite its impending exit from Netflix, the original film’s popularity remains high: Sicario grossed $84 million worldwide on a $30 million budget and holds a 92% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers eager to revisit the film will have only a handful of days remaining to stream it before it leaves the catalog. After August 31, Sicario may still be available through other digital retailers or on disc, but Netflix subscribers will need to act fast to watch it one last time on the platform.
