Police Respond to Possible Active Shooter in South Minneapolis

Minneapolis, MN (August 27, 2025) - Law enforcement agencies are responding to a possible active shooter incident in south Minneapolis Wednesday morning, with WCCO crews reporting a large emergency presence near Annunciation Catholic School on 53rd Avenue and Bryant Avenue South.

Governor Tim Walz confirmed he has been briefed on the shooting, expressing his concern: > “I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”

Multiple agencies, including the FBI, Minnesota State Patrol and Minneapolis Police Department, remain on the scene as authorities work to secure the area and determine the suspect’s status.
