Haboob Aftermath Eases as Phoenix Records Mild Evening Mix of Clear Skies and Gentle Breezes

Phoenix, Aug. 27, 2025 - Crews in the greater Phoenix area spent Wednesday restoring normalcy after Monday’s powerful haboob dust storm, as residents awoke to partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 90s.
By Tuesday afternoon, most of the more than 15,000 customers who lost power during the wall of dust had their electricity restored, with only about 100 households still awaiting reconnection in Maricopa County. Workers cleared downed tree limbs and addressed leaks at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, where heavy rain following the haboob had caused roof damage and localized flooding in passenger areas.
As of the 10 minute-ago METAR report at 8:51 PM local time, Phoenix Sky Harbor recorded a temperature of 91.9 °F under partly cloudy conditions, with a gentle breeze blowing at 9.2 mph and no precipitation reported. Humidity levels remained moderate, offering residents a brief respite from the monsoon’s sweltering highs.
Looking ahead, forecasters expect monsoonal moisture to linger into Thursday, with isolated thunderstorms possible before drier westerly winds usher in more typical late-August heat by the weekend.
