Ford Issues Major Recall of Over 355,000 Trucks for Dashboard Display Failure

August 28, 2025 | Dearborn, Michigan

Ford Motor Company announced today a safety recall affecting 355,656 vehicles in the United States after discovering a software defect that can cause the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to remain blank at startup, potentially preventing drivers from seeing critical information such as speed, fuel level, and warning indicators.

The recall covers:

  • 2025 Ford F-150 models built between May 14, 2024, and July 25, 2025
  • 2025-2026 Super Duty trucks (F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550) produced between June 6, 2024, and July 22, 2025

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the IPC may fail to “wake up” correctly during the sleep-entry sequence, leading to a memory protection fault and a blank dashboard display. Ford has logged 95 warranty claims related to this issue but is not aware of any crashes or injuries attributed to the defect.

To address the problem, Ford will provide a free software update to affected owners. The update can be delivered over-the-air (OTA) for vehicles equipped with that capability or installed at Ford and Lincoln dealerships. Owner notification letters will begin mailing on September 2, 2025, instructing customers on how to obtain the remedy; dealers will be notified on August 25, 2025.

Ford’s Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safety: “We are taking swift action to ensure our customers have access to the safest driving experience possible. This recall reflects our ongoing efforts to identify and resolve software and hardware issues before they pose a risk”.

Vehicle owners can verify their VIN and obtain more information by calling Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 or visiting the NHTSA recall lookup website.
