Karen Khachanov Set to Clash with Kamil Majchrzak in US Open Second Round

NEW YORK, August 28, 2025 - Russian No. 9 seed Karen Khachanov is preparing to continue his US Open campaign this evening, when he faces Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the men’s singles second round at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM local time on Court 11. Khachanov, who ousted American wild-card Nishesh Basavareddy in four sets in the first round, arrives in confident form on New York’s hard courts. His powerful serve-averaging more than 10 aces per match-and aggressive baseline game have been key weapons so far in Flushing Meadows.

Majchrzak, ranked No. 76, is set to make his second-round debut after a straight-sets victory over Hugo Dellien. Though he has yet to defeat Khachanov in their four previous encounters, the Pole will look to exploit any lapses in the Russian’s form. Their most recent meeting came at Wimbledon, where Khachanov won 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 in the Round of 16.

A win tonight would send Khachanov into the third round, where he could face an improving crop of opponents aiming to challenge the established top-seeded players at this year’s US Open.
