Powerball Jackpot Rises to $950 Million as Drought Nears Three Months

August 28, 2025 - After no jackpot winner in Wednesday night’s drawing, the Powerball prize climbed to a staggering $950 million, marking the sixth-largest jackpot in the game’s history and approaching the billion-dollar threshold.

In Wednesday’s drawing, the winning numbers were:

  • 9 - 12 - 22 - 41 - 61 Powerball: 25.

Despite nearly three months without a grand prize winner-since May 31, when a California ticket claimed $204.5 million-players are still chasing the top prize. The next drawing is set for Saturday night, with the annuitized jackpot of $950 million or a lump-sum cash option of $428.9 million on offer.

Although the jackpot remains elusive, several players hit it big in secondary tiers on Wednesday:

  • Three tickets in Mississippi, Ohio and Virginia each won $2 million by matching five white balls plus Power Play.
  • Three tickets in Arizona, New York and Virginia secured $1 million each by matching all five white balls (without Power Play).

Powerball remains a high-odds game, with the chance to win the jackpot standing at 1 in 292.2 million. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets cost $2 per play, with an optional $1 Power Play multiplier that increases non-jackpot prizes.
