Mega Hawlucha Makes Its Spectacular Debut in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

BELLEVUE, Wash. - August 28, 2025 - The Pokémon Company today unveiled Mega Hawlucha, the electrifying new Mega Evolution of the Wrestling Pokémon, in a special reveal for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. In an action-packed animated short, Hawlucha’s trainer faces off against Machamp in a grand wrestling ring; after sustaining several powerful blows, Hawlucha taps into the extraordinary power of Mega Evolution, donning a striking black-and-gold mask and cape and overwhelming its opponent with its signature move, Flying Press.

Mega Hawlucha retains its Fighting/Flying typing and grows only slightly in stature, but gains formidable bulk and enhanced attack power that turn the tide of battle. Its new look-complete with a decorative collar and flowing feather “cape”-emphasizes both its luchador flair and superhero-inspired design.

To celebrate the reveal, fans are invited to watch the official Mega Hawlucha trailer on the Pokémon YouTube channel and mark their calendars for a live showcase at Arena México in Mexico City on September 25, 2025. This special event, presented in partnership with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), will feature exhibition matches starring top lucha libre talent alongside appearances by Mega Hawlucha itself.
