Michael Longfellow to Exit ‘Saturday Night Live’ After Three Seasons

NEW YORK, Aug. 28, 2025 - Michael Longfellow, a featured performer on NBC’s flagship sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live since Season 48, will not return for the show’s upcoming 51st season.
Longfellow, 31, distinguished himself with his deadpan humor and memorable appearances on the Weekend Update desk, where he lampooned topics ranging from Real ID regulations to TikTok trends. Elevated to repertory status in Season 50, he was widely considered a rising star in the SNL ensemble and was reportedly screen-tested for the role of Weekend Update host earlier this year.
His departure follows the exits of fellow cast members Emil Wakim and Devon Walker, as well as writers Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker, as the series undergoes a major cast shake-up ahead of its fall premiere on October 4. NBC has not issued an official statement regarding Longfellow’s exit.
Longfellow’s final episode aired on May 17, 2025, hosted by Scarlett Johansson. Beyond SNL, he remains active on the stand-up circuit and appeared in the 2023 film Good Burger 2.
Saturday Night Live will launch Season 51 on NBC and Peacock after a landmark 50th-anniversary celebration that included a three-hour special featuring alumni from all five decades.
