Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Announces “Another Miracle” in Social-Media Post

NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 28, 2025 (AP) - Clarence Ray Nagin Jr., the former two-term mayor of New Orleans, took to the social-media platform X on Thursday to share a brief but cryptic message celebrating his resilience and hinting at forthcoming good news. In a post published on his official X account, Nagin wrote: “My life is a series of miracles, overcoming incredible odds, with help from above. Another one is on the way.”

Nagin, 69, served as New Orleans mayor from 2002 to 2010, earning national attention for his leadership before, during and after Hurricane Katrina. He was convicted in 2014 on multiple federal corruption charges and sentenced to ten years in prison. After being released to home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic, he completed his term of supervised release in March 2024.

Since regaining his full civil rights, including voting and firearm ownership (where permitted by state law), Nagin has maintained a low public profile. His X announcement marks one of his first public communications in more than a year. It remains unclear what specific development he was referring to, and Nagin did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Further details may emerge as Nagin’s statement circulates among local and national media outlets.
