Shaq Mason Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Aug. 28, 2025 - Two-time Super Bowl champion Shaquille “Shaq” Mason was arrested Wednesday following a suspected domestic violence incident at a residence in Franklin, Tennessee.

According to the Franklin Police Department, Mason, 31, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, harassment and driving on a suspended license. Officers report that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning when Mason allegedly forced entry into the home of the mother of his child and physically assaulted her, resulting in visible injuries.

During a subsequent traffic stop, police took Mason into custody and set his bond at $150,000. As of Thursday afternoon, he remained in the Williamson County Jail without having posted bond.

Mason, a Brentwood native and Georgia Tech alum, was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He earned Super Bowl rings with the Patriots in 2017 and 2019 before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 and the Houston Texans in 2023. The Texans released him in March 2025, making him a free agent at the time of his arrest.

A court hearing on the domestic violence charges is scheduled for October. Mason has not issued a public statement regarding the allegations. The NFL and the NFL Players Association have been notified and are reviewing the matter under the league’s personal conduct policy.
