Hot and Humid Friday in Austin with Scattered Storm Threat

Austin, TX-Friday, August 29, 2025-Austin woke to warm, mostly clear skies with a morning low of 78.1 °F at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Gentle southeast breezes at 8 mph offered little relief from the high humidity.
By midday, temperatures climbed into the upper 90s, peaking near 100 °F with heat indices between 103 °F and 108 °F. A mid-level ridge anchored over Central Texas has kept dry, hot air in place through the morning.
A stalled frontal boundary to the north of the I-10 corridor will introduce a 20-40% chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into evening, particularly across northern Bastrop, Williamson, Burnet, and Llano counties. Despite only isolated storm development expected, any downpour could be brief but heavy, posing a marginal (Level 1 of 4) flash flood risk in those areas.
Tonight, skies will remain partly cloudy, with lows dipping to the mid-70s under lingering humidity. Rain chances increase to 50% north of Interstate 10, as outflow from daytime storms may propagate southward into Travis County. Winds will shift to a southerly flow at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
Saturday’s forecast calls for continued hot conditions-highs in the upper 90s-with storm chances persisting into the evening before returning to mostly dry, seasonal temperatures on Sunday.
