Gearbox Launches First Borderlands 4 Twitch Drop Ahead of 9/12 Release

In a special promotion coinciding with PAX West’s Gearbox Main Theater Show, Gearbox Software and 2K Games today unveiled the first Twitch Drop for Borderlands 4, offering fans a purple ECHO-4 drone skin ahead of the game’s official launch on September 12, 2025.

Starting at 1 p.m. PT on August 29, viewers who watch at least 30 minutes of any Borderlands 4 stream on the official Borderlands or Gearbox Twitch channels will automatically receive the cosmetic reward once Borderlands 4 launches. To qualify, players must link their SHiFT and Twitch accounts-ensuring the SHiFT account is tied to the platform they plan to play on-and tune in during the designated presentation window.

The purple ECHO-4 drone skin modifies the companion’s appearance from its standard grey-and-blue finish to a vibrant purple design, marking the first in-game reward distributed via Twitch Drops for the upcoming looter shooter. This promotion kicks off a month-long Drops campaign running through September 29, during which additional cosmetic rewards will be unlocked by watching select Borderlands 4 streams.

Borderlands 4, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S on September 12, 2025, with a Nintendo Switch 2 port following on October 3, 2025.
