Dexter: Resurrection Episode 9 “Touched by an Ángel” Shocks Viewers with Batista’s Death

August 29, 2025 (New York) - Tonight’s penultimate installment of Dexter: Resurrection, titled “Touched by an Ángel”, delivered a gut-wrenching turn as Miami Metro veteran Angel Batista met a tragic end.

In this installment, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) finds himself backed into a corner when Leon Prater (guest star) and Charley Brown expose critical information about his past, forcing him to take increasingly desperate measures to protect his secret life. As Dexter arranges a high-stakes meeting with Prater, Harrison (Jack Alcott) becomes entangled in his father’s dangerous maneuvers, heightening the episode’s emotional stakes.

The climax of Episode 9 occurs when Batista-who has doggedly pursued clues linking Dexter to the Bay Harbor Butcher-confronts Dexter one last time. In a scene described as “one of the most gut-wrenching, poetic, and cruel ways possible,” Batista is fatally shot, leaving Dexter reeling as he watches his oldest ally fall. The choice of “Mad World” over the credits underscored the devastation of losing Dexter’s final tie to his Miami past.

Directed by Marcos Siega and penned by Scott Reynolds and Matt Venne, “Touched by an Ángel” sets the stage for next week’s season finale with Dexter’s freedom, code, and family all hanging in the balance. Viewers will tune in to Paramount+ next Friday to see whether Dexter can survive the fallout of Batista’s death and what fate awaits Harrison in the series conclusion.
