YouTube and Fox Reach Last-Minute Agreement to Keep Fox Sports on YouTube TV

In a breakthrough late Friday, YouTube and Fox Corp. finalized a new distribution deal that will maintain Fox Sports, along with Fox News and other Fox channels, on YouTube TV.
The agreement follows a tense week of negotiations in which Fox had pushed for “significantly higher” carriage fees-shortly after launching its standalone streaming service, Fox One, priced at $19.99 per month or $199.99 annually. YouTube warned that, absent a deal, it would remove Fox’s broadcast network, news, and sports channels from its platform at 5 p.m. ET Wednesday, potentially depriving subscribers of marquee events such as this weekend’s college football matchups and the upcoming NFL season kickoff.
Neither company disclosed the financial terms. YouTube, owned by Alphabet, expressed satisfaction that the deal preserves the value of YouTube TV for its subscribers, while Fox hailed the outcome as ensuring uninterrupted access to its content.
The resolution averts a disruption that could have cost YouTube TV viewers access to high-profile sporting events, including a top-ranked Texas vs. Ohio State college football game and the National Football League opening slate next month. Both parties emphasized their ongoing commitment to bringing premium sports programming to fans nationwide.
