Today’s high school football slate featured hundreds of games across the country, highlighted by season openers in Texas and key matchups in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Alabama.

Texas Opening weekend of the 2025 Texas high school football season saw all 514 scheduled games kick off under the UIL banner. Divisional play included 112 contests in 6A, 84 in 5A-1, 85 in 5A-2, 70 in 4A-1, 83 in 4A-2, 83 in 3A-1, 82 in 3A-2, 86 in 2A-1, 80 in 2A-2, 41 in 1A-1 and 40 in 1A-2. Fans tracked live updates and final scores across every classification, with prominent early showdowns setting the tone for the season.

North Carolina The North Carolina campaign continued with 189 games on the Friday night slate. Highlighted matchups included No. 4 Cardinal Gibbons hosting Virginia’s No. 2 Maury, No. 21 Myers Park visiting No. 2 Weddington, No. 8 Independence hosting No. 6 Hough, and No. 3 East Forsyth traveling to No. 20 Northern Guilford. All games were available via live updates on the state’s high school football scoreboard.

Pennsylvania Pennsylvania’s PIAA schedule featured 235 games statewide. Among the top early-season contests was Malvern Prep hosting La Salle College, as La Salle sought to maintain its winning momentum. In the Philadelphia metro area, Springfield visited Marple Newtown in one of 57 games, while the Pittsburgh region saw 79 contests including Pine-Richland vs. Central Catholic. Four games unfolded in the Harrisburg area, led by Oxford vs. Northern Lebanon.

Alabama Friday’s Alabama gridiron action produced several lopsided victories:
