Trump Revokes Secret Service Protection for Former Vice President Kamala Harris

WASHINGTON, Aug. 29 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has canceled Secret Service protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris, CNN reported on Friday, citing a copy of a letter made public by the White House.

The revocation removes the additional one-year security detail that had been extended for Harris by President Joe Biden following the standard six-month protection period for former vice presidents. The withdrawal of protection takes effect on Sept. 1.

A spokesperson for Harris thanked the U.S. Secret Service for their service. Representatives for the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
