Texas High School Football Scores Shine in Season Opener

The 2025 Texas high school football season exploded into action on Friday with a flurry of high-scoring affairs across East Texas and the state’s premier programs.

East Texas saw a blockbuster night at Memorial Stadium as Texarkana Texas outgunned Tyler Legacy, 57-43, in a shootout that featured seven lead changes before the Wildcats pulled away in the fourth quarter. Lindale’s defense dominated Hallsville, holding the Wildcats to a single touchdown in a 31-7 win, while Nacogdoches rolled past Palestine, 35-14, thanks to three rushing scores in the second half. Winnsboro showcased its balanced attack in a 55-28 victory over Tatum, and Gladewater pulled away from Daingerfield, 21-7, after a scoreless first quarter.

Across the state, several marquee matchups set the tone for statewide powerhouses. Aldine MacArthur edged Cypress Ridge, 23-13, on the strength of a late touchdown drive led by junior quarterback Malik Johnson. Amarillo Tascosa recorded a defensive shutout, blanking Amarillo Palo Duro, 10-0, behind two field goals and a goal-line stand in the fourth quarter. In Austin, Anderson’s high-octane offense overwhelmed Austin McCallum, 37-2, as senior wideout Isaiah Carter hauled in five catches for 112 yards and two scores. Beaumont West Brook opened its campaign with a 38-0 drubbing of Aldine Eisenhower, highlighted by four first-half touchdowns on the ground.

Other notable results included Brownsville Lopez’s 40-23 win over La Joya Juarez-Lincoln, Flower Mound Marcus’s 31-28 victory at Keller, and Fort Bend Crawford’s 64-7 rout of Fort Bend Clements. The full slate of scores reflects the depth and competitiveness of Texas high school football as teams gear up for a grueling district slate.

Friday’s results set early benchmarks for defending champions and playoff contenders alike, promising an electrifying season as the chase for UIL state titles officially kicks off.
