Sami Zayn Captures U.S. Title as WWE SmackDown Delivers Go-Home Show in Lyon

Lyon, France, August 29, 2025 - Friday Night SmackDown served as the final stop before Clash in Paris, featuring explosive in-ring action and major title changes.
In the main event, Sami Zayn overcame United States Champion Solo Sikoa to claim his first U.S. Championship in WWE. After enduring interference from the MFT faction and surviving multiple Spinning Solos on the announce table, Zayn rallied with an Exploder Suplex and two Helluva Kicks to pin Sikoa and secure the new title reign.
Earlier in the evening, John Cena took aim at Logan Paul, delivering a blistering promo and warning Paul that “wrestling would ruin him” if he failed to perform at Clash in Paris this weekend. The segment reignited one of WWE’s most heated rivalries and set the tone for the pay-per-view.
On the women’s side, Alexa Bliss narrowly defeated Chelsea Green via pinfall following a roll-up. Bliss was ambushed post-match by Chelsea and Alba Fyre, only to be saved by Charlotte Flair. In undercard action, Michin rolled up Kiana James for a quick victory , while The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) defeated Melo Don’t Miz (The Miz & Carmelo Hayes) to become the #1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
A tense face-off between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton erupted into chaos when Orton unleashed RKOs on security personnel and WWE veteran Hurricane Helms at ringside, underscoring the unpredictable nature of their rivalry ahead of Clash in Paris.
