YouTube TV Secures New Distribution Deal with Fox to Avert Channel Blackout

August 29, 2025 - YouTube TV and Fox Corporation announced late Friday that they have reached a renewal agreement ensuring continued carriage of Fox’s full portfolio of networks on the streaming platform. The deal preserves access to Fox News Channel, Fox Sports (including FS1 and FS2), Fox Business Network, Fox Weather, Big Ten Network, Fox Deportes, and all Fox local stations for YouTube TV’s nearly 10 million subscribers without interruption.

YouTube had warned earlier this week that Fox was seeking “significantly higher” retransmission fees than other content partners, risking removal of Fox broadcast, news, and sports channels by 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday if no agreement was reached. In anticipation of potential disruptions, YouTube TV implemented a short-term extension with Fox on Wednesday, forestalling any immediate blackout.

Neither party disclosed financial terms or the duration of the new agreement. In a blog post, YouTube stated that the deal “preserves the value of our service for subscribers and offers more flexibility in the future,” while Fox emphasized its expectation to be compensated at market rates. YouTube reaffirmed that its top priority remains delivering a broad range of programming without passing excessive costs onto consumers.

The agreement comes at a critical juncture, with college football kicking off this weekend and the NFL season set to begin next month. Subscribers can now continue to view marquee matchups-such as No. 1 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State-alongside regular-season games on Fox Sports, and access flagship Fox News programs like “The Five” and “Special Report” without disruption.
