Attorney General Bondi Dismisses DOJ Paralegal Elizabeth Baxter

Washington, D.C., August 30, 2025 - Attorney General Pam Bondi announced today the immediate termination of Department of Justice paralegal Elizabeth Baxter after Baxter allegedly directed obscene gestures and profanity at National Guard personnel deployed in the capital.

In a termination memorandum, Bondi cited Baxter’s conduct on August 18, when Baxter “raised her middle finger and shouted profanities at National Guard troops” near the Metro Center station en route to the DOJ’s “4CON” building, and “repeated the gesture while exclaiming ‘F-k you!’ at the troops” later that same day. Bondi emphasized that “individuals who disrespect law enforcement will not remain employed by the DOJ.”

Baxter, who served in the Environmental Defense Section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division, reportedly boasted about her actions to DOJ security officers on both August 18 and August 25, telling them she “hated the National Guard” and had told them to “F-k off!” according to internal security footage and sworn statements cited in the termination letter. The letter formally removed her from the position of Paralegal Specialist, GS-0950-11, effective immediately.

The dismissal comes amid heightened federal security in Washington, D.C., following President Donald Trump’s declaration of a “crime emergency” and deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to the city’s streets. Bondi’s action underscores the Justice Department’s zero-tolerance policy for employee conduct deemed incompatible with the department’s mission and professional standards.
