Hopkinton State Fair Thrills Crowds on Saturday, August 30, 2025

Contoocook, N.H. - Under bright late-summer skies, the 110th Hopkinton State Fair drew enthusiastic crowds on Saturday, August 30, at the fairgrounds behind Hopkinton High School. Fairgoers enjoyed a full slate of agricultural competitions, family attractions and high-energy entertainment throughout the day.

Early morning activities began at 8 a.m. with the 4-H Youth Working Steer Show in the Durgin Arena, followed simultaneously by the 4-H Dog Show in Kimball Barn. By mid-morning, the Hood Arena hosted back-to-back livestock showcases, including the 4-H Youth Sheep Show and Youth Dairy Show, and the Show Ring featured the Open Swine Show beginning at 11 a.m..

Amid the animal exhibits, festivalgoers tested their mettle at the 4-H AG Olympics in the Hood Arena and witnessed expert teams compete in Oxen Pulling at 6 p.m. in the Durgin Arena, where powerful draft animals battled in a display of strength and teamwork. Meanwhile, the Nelson Complex buzzed with excitement during the Gymkhana equestrian events and Costume, Lunch on the Pack and Obstacle Course portion of the 4-H Youth Goat Show.

Beyond the agricultural competitions, visitors explored the midway rides and sampled classic fair foods, while the Disc-Connected K9s performed daily Frisbee dog shows that attracted families to the grandstand throughout the afternoon. Live music on the Ag Stage featured performances by local musicians, rounding out a lively atmosphere of community celebration.

With one day remaining in this Labor Day weekend tradition, the Hopkinton State Fair continues Sunday with opening hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., promising more food contests, demolition derby thrills and 4-H auctions before closing Monday at 5 p.m.
