Iowa Opens 2025 Season on Schedule with Albany at Kinnick Stadium

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Following the release of its 2025 slate in December, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes officially kicked off their season today, Saturday, August 30, 2025, as scheduled against the Albany Great Danes. The non-conference opener began at 6:00 p.m. Central on FS1 from Kinnick Stadium, adhering to Iowa’s published schedule.

The contest marks the first of 12 games on Iowa’s 2025 schedule, which features marquee Big Ten matchups later in the season, including clashes with at Rutgers (Sept. 19), Indiana (Sept. 27), Wisconsin (Oct. 11), Penn State (Oct. 18), Minnesota (Oct. 25), Oregon (Nov. 8), USC (Nov. 15), Michigan State (Nov. 22) and Nebraska (Nov. 28). Iowa’s early-season home stand continues next week with the Cyclone rivalry in Ames on Sept. 6 before returning to Kinnick for UMass on Sept. 13.

By starting the 2025 campaign on schedule, the Hawkeyes maintain continuity under veteran head coach Kirk Ferentz, now in his 27th season. With this opener complete, Iowa looks ahead to its first conference contest on Sept. 19 at Rutgers, aiming to build momentum in Big Ten play.
