Kazakhstan-China Bilateral Trade Hits Record High

In remarks delivered at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that Kazakhstan-China bilateral trade reached a historic $44 billion in 2024. Tokayev emphasized that robust economic ties remain critical to Kazakhstan’s development strategy, citing energy cooperation and infrastructure connectivity as pillars of mutual growth.

Presidential Summit in Tianjin

On the evening of August 30, President Tokayev met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Tianjin Guest House, ahead of the SCO Summit. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strategic partnership, agreeing to deepen cooperation in energy, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges. Over 20 bilateral cooperation documents were signed, spanning housing, education, sports, and wildlife protection.

Asian Shooting Championship Concludes in Shymkent

The 16th Asian Shooting Championship, which ran from August 16-30 in Shymkent, drew elite competitors from across the continent. The closing ceremony celebrated record-breaking performances and the successful organization of all events under the auspices of the Asian Shooting Confederation and the ISSF. Organizers lauded the display of precision and sportsmanship that underscored Kazakhstan’s growing reputation as a host for international sporting competitions.
