Bucharest, August 30, 2025 - A series of events unfolded across Romania today, ranging from governmental visits to international festivals and seismic activity.

Romanian President Nicușor Dan paid a formal visit to Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, to participate in events commemorating Romanian Language Day. Met by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, the two leaders attended cultural celebrations highlighting the 1989 parliamentary decision to adopt Romanian as the state language and transition from Cyrillic to Latin script.

Romanian authorities established a Crisis Cell at the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism to repatriate approximately 100 nationals stranded abroad due to the temporary financial blockage of the Cocktail Holidays agency. Out of 677 affected tourists, arrangements have been made to return most by weekend’s end; the situation of the remaining 87 is under assessment.

The George Enescu International Festival continued its seventh day with performances by the Orchestra of the Valencia Community at the Radio Hall and the Santa Cecilia National Academy at the Palace Hall in Bucharest. Simultaneously, the Symphony Orchestra Cologne performed under Cristian Măcelaru in Timișoara, as part of the month‐long classical music series featuring ensembles from 28 countries.

Over 150,000 visitors are expected this weekend at the Bucharest International Air Show (BIAS) 2025 at Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu Airport. The event showcases more than 200 civil and military aircraft, aerobatic teams including Patrouille de France, live performances, fireworks, and dedicated activity zones for children.

Seismologists recorded a magnitude 2.6 earthquake at 16:50 UTC near Nereju in eastern Romania, 9 km from the epicenter at 45.7573° N, 26.8213° E, at a depth of 118 km. No casualties or damage have been reported.
