Walt Disney Studios Unveils Major Announcements at Destination D23 Showcase

Orlando, FL - August 30, 2025 Walt Disney Studios kicked off its Destination D23 2025 Showcase today with a wave of high-profile reveals spanning animation, live-action, theme-park enhancements, and more.
The event opened with the addition of a new Audio-Animatronic figure of Walt Disney in the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, honoring the company’s legacy and offering park guests a fresh “big, beautiful tomorrow” experience.
Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, introduced Hexed, an original feature set for November 2026 that follows an awkward teen whose quirks mask magical abilities, transporting him and his mother into a hidden realm of enchantment. Pixar then took the stage, unveiling Hoppers, a comedic tale of a college student and her robotic beaver protector arriving March 2026, alongside an exclusive first look at Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw, premiering December 5 on Disney+.
The studios spotlighted sequels, including a sneak peek at Zootopia 2 (in theaters November 26), with Patrick Warburton voicing Mayor Winddancer and Yvette Nicole Brown as both Baroness and an EMT Otter, as rookie cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde tackle a twisting new mystery.
Marvel Studios teased its next blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, confirming that filming is underway, and shared the first footage via a message from directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Star Wars fans received a look at The Mandalorian & Grogu, due May 22, 2026, while Blue Sky’s animated stalwarts return in Ice Age: Boiling Point, set for February 5, 2027, with new prehistoric adventures.
In celebration of upcoming releases, TRON: Ares will debut October 10, 2025, featuring a Nine Inch Nails score that will overlay the TRON Lightcycle Run attractions at Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disney Resort this fall. The original TRON films also received a 4K Ultra HD remaster coming September 16.
