California Lottery’s Powerball Jackpot Surges to $1.1 Billion Ahead of Labor Day Drawing

SACRAMENTO, Aug. 31, 2025 - The Powerball® jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.1 billion for Monday night’s drawing, marking the fifth-largest prize in the game’s history. No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Saturday, Aug. 30, pushing the jackpot to a projected cash value of $498.4 million.

In Saturday’s drawing, the winning numbers were 3, 18, 22, 27 and 33, with the red Powerball at 17. Though there was no jackpot winner, nine tickets matched all five white balls to claim $1 million each; four of those million-dollar tickets were sold in California. Additionally, 115 tickets won $50,000 prizes and 27 tickets secured $150,000 prizes through Power Play®, which multiplied non-jackpot winnings by 3x.

Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET live from Tallahassee, Fla., and are also streamed on Powerball.com. Players have until 7:00 p.m. local time on drawing days to purchase tickets, available for $2 per play. More than half of all proceeds from ticket sales remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold, supporting local education, public safety and other good causes.

The next drawing on Monday, Sept. 1, will give Californians one more shot at the billion-dollar jackpot over the Labor Day weekend. Winners may choose the annuity option-30 annual payments increasing 5 percent each year-or the lump-sum cash option, both before taxes.
