Costco Announces Labor Day Closure and Executive Hour Policy Enforcement

August 31, 2025 - Costco Wholesale Corporation today reminded members that all U.S. warehouses will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of the federal holiday. Stores will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 2.
In conjunction with this annual holiday closure, Costco also confirmed that its new “Executive Hour” policy will officially take effect as of Labor Day. Under the policy, Executive Members will enjoy exclusive in-warehouse access from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekdays-one hour before Gold Star and Business Members are admitted. The first opportunity for members to experience this perk will occur when warehouses reopen at 9 a.m. on September 2, given that all locations remain closed on September 1.
Costco’s adherence to closing on seven major U.S. holidays, including Labor Day, reflects its commitment to work-life balance for employees. The introduction of the Executive Hour aims to reward Costco’s most loyal members by providing a quieter shopping environment and additional benefits tied to its Executive Membership tier.
Members planning bulk purchases or last-minute holiday essentials are advised to shop in advance, as usual Sunday warehouse hours apply on August 31, with Executive Members granted early access beginning at 9 a.m. and general member entry at 10 a.m. Stores will then remain closed for Labor Day.
