Malaysia and Kyrgyzstan Celebrate Independence Day on August 31, 2025

KUALA LUMPUR/BISHEKEK, Aug. 31, 2025 - Nations across Asia marked their annual Independence Day milestones today with grand ceremonies, patriotic displays and cultural performances.
In Malaysia’s federal administrative capital of Putrajaya, the country commemorated its 68th Independence Day with a spectacular parade at Dataran Putrajaya. Over 14,000 participants formed 81 contingents representing various segments of Malaysian society, while the Royal Malaysian Air Force staged a dynamic aerial flypast featuring fighter jets and helicopters in precise formation. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar presided over the festivities alongside Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and members of the Cabinet. Thousands of spectators lined the avenues to witness the military ceremonies, colourful floats, marching bands and cultural showcases under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,” emphasising unity and people-centred progress.
Meanwhile, in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan observed the 34th anniversary of its independence from the Soviet Union with a formal ceremony in the city’s central square. President Sadyr Zhaparov and Cabinet ministers attended the main event, which featured a large gala concert in the evening. The concert programme included performances by renowned foreign artists such as Nikolai Baskov, Lyusya Chebotina, BOSSON and local Kyrgyz pop stars, delighting residents and guests gathered to celebrate national sovereignty and cultural heritage.
Throughout both countries, the spirit of independence was further honoured with fireworks, flag-raising ceremonies and community gatherings, reflecting each nation’s pride in its history and commitment to a united future.
