Astana, August 31 - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tianjin today to participate in the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Summit, where he joined leaders including China’s Xi Jinping and Russia’s Vladimir Putin for opening sessions and bilateral talks aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and economic integration.
Astana - The Ministry of Science and Higher Education announced that artificial intelligence has become a mandatory discipline at all 93 universities across Kazakhstan, with 20 institutions launching 25 new AI-focused educational tracks to prepare graduates for rapidly evolving technology sectors.
Almaty Region - Rescue teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations successfully evacuated six climbers from an altitude of 4,300 meters on Satpayev Peak after a rockfall injured two members of the group. A helicopter operation airlifted the tourists-five of whom are Russian nationals-to safety, and the injured climbers received immediate medical care upon landing.
Nationwide Weather - The National Weather Service Kazhydromet forecast predominantly dry conditions in western, southern, and southeastern regions today, with thunderstorms, hail, and squalls expected elsewhere. Temperatures could reach 35-38 °C in Atyrau and Mangistau regions, while high to extreme fire danger warnings remain in effect across multiple regions.
