Monterey County Fair Shines on Day Four with Selena Super Show Headliner

MONTEREY, Calif. (Aug. 31, 2025) - The fourth day of the 89th Annual Monterey County Fair delivered high-energy entertainment, family fun and record crowds on Sunday at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center.
Selena Super Show Steals the Spotlight The evening’s headline attraction was the Selena Super Show, a vibrant tribute to the late Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla. Performing to a packed Payton Stage at 7:30 p.m., the cast recreated Selena’s iconic wardrobe, choreography and vocal stylings in a 90-minute set that had fans dancing to classics such as “Como la Flor” and “Dreaming of You”.
Flying U Rodeo Thrills Audiences Earlier in the afternoon, the Flying U Rodeo returned for two adrenaline-charged performances at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Spectators cheered on bull riders, barrel racers and team ropers in Pattee Arena, where local champions and visiting pros showcased their skills under sunny skies.
New “All Creatures Racing” Debuts Debuting this year in the King City Room, All Creatures Racing brought barnyard competition to the Fair, featuring pigs, sheep, ducks and geese in playful sprints down a miniature track. Families gathered around the ring to cheer on their favorite animal racers in a lighthearted twist on classic fair entertainment.
Carnival, Exhibits and Special Admission The Carnival midway buzzed with activity from noon to 11 p.m., offering thrill rides and game booths for all ages. In the exhibits halls, entries ranged from prize-winning livestock and horticulture displays to home-craft competitions, spotlighting Monterey County’s agricultural heritage.
Today was also Kids Day, with free admission for children ages 6-12 and wristband specials making carnival rides more accessible for families. Children under 5 continue to enjoy free entry each day.
The Fair continues through Monday, Sept. 1, closing out Labor Day weekend with the Bay Area party band The Cheeseballs on the Payton Stage and family traditions including the Jr. Livestock Auction and local artisan showcases. For full schedules and ticket information, visit montereycountyfair.com.
