Tehran Expands Global Streaming Footprint After Strong Digital Debut

Mumbai, August 31, 2025 - The geopolitical spy thriller Tehran, starring John Abraham, has widened its digital audience following a successful two-week run on ZEE5 and a recent Netflix launch.
Tehran premiered exclusively on ZEE5 on August 14, 2025, and generated a total of 3.7 million views across its first two weeks, according to data from Ormax Media. The film maintained a steady performance in its second week with 2 million views, holding its rank among the top five most-watched OTT originals in India.
Building on this momentum, the Maddock Films production became available on Netflix India starting August 27, 2025. Netflix India promoted the release on its social channels, highlighting the film’s tense narrative of espionage set against an India-Iran diplomatic backdrop.
Directed by Arun Gopalan and co-written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish P. Verma, Tehran follows ACP Rajeev Kumar (John Abraham) as he pursues justice across international borders after a devastating bombing in Delhi. The film holds a 6.6/10 rating on IMDb and has drawn praise for its grounded action sequences and multi-layered lead performance.
With its staggered streaming strategy-debuting on ZEE5 during India’s Independence Day weekend and promptly arriving on Netflix-the producers aim to secure Tehran a spot among the year’s most-viewed digital releases. The team now sets its sights on breaking into the top five OTT originals of 2025.
