Hurricanes Edge Notre Dame in Season Opener The No. 10 Miami Hurricanes secured a thrilling 27-24 victory over No. 6 Notre Dame on Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. After building a 14-point lead, Miami surrendered two late scores before kicker Carter Davis drilled a 47-yard field goal with 1:04 remaining to seal the win. The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak against ranked opponents and marked Miami’s first triumph over a top-10 team since 2017. Quarterback Carson Beck threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense contributed a timely interception and two fourth-quarter sacks to preserve the narrow margin.
Linebacker Arrested in Fatal Crash University of Miami linebacker Adarius Hayes was arrested following a high-speed crash in Pinellas County that resulted in three fatalities. Authorities allege that Hayes’ reckless driving-including aggressive lane changes and excessive speed-caused the collision. Previously cited for speeding and lane violations, Hayes had his license suspended briefly in 2023 for failing to complete driving school. Miami Athletics announced his indefinite suspension from all athletic activities under departmental policy as the investigation continues.
