FALL RIVER, Nova Scotia (September 1, 2025) - The Dairy Queen franchise in Fall River has announced a record-setting donation of nearly $7,000 to the IWK Health Centre, crediting NHL star Brad Marchand’s appearance during Miracle Treat Day for driving unprecedented sales and community support.

Brad Marchand’s scheduled meet-and-greet shifted from Bayer’s Lake to the Fall River Dairy Queen on August 14 due to nearby wildfires, drawing hundreds of fans eager for autographs and photos. Franchisee Peggy Rust reported that Miracle Treat Day balloon sales raised $245, customer “round-up” contributions totaled $1,204.89, and net Blizzard treat profits generated $5,500 for donation. In total, these efforts resulted in a $6,949 contribution to the IWK, marking the highest single-store Miracle Treat Day haul in the location’s history.
