Lorenzo Musetti Set to Face Jaume Munar in US Open Round of 16 Showdown

Lorenzo Musetti, the Italian world No. 10, is scheduled to take on Spain’s Jaume Munar in the fourth round of the US Open today under clear skies at Flushing Meadows. The match, set for Louis Armstrong Stadium at 18:40 GMT, marks Musetti’s first appearance in the Round of 16 at Flushing Meadows.
Musetti earned his place in the second week of the hard-court major when compatriot Flavio Cobolli retired trailing 6-3, 6-2, 2-0 in their third-round encounter on Saturday. The 23-year-old Italian has shown improved consistency on his one-handed backhand and will look to carry that form into tonight’s contest.
His opponent, 28-year-old Jaume Munar, enters the match boasting a career-high ranking of No. 44 and a 4-1 lifetime advantage over Musetti. Munar advanced to the Round of 16 with straight-sets victories in his opening two rounds and has yet to drop a set in New York.
The winner of this clash will move through to the US Open quarter-finals, with Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka also in action later in the evening session.
