Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani Remains Hospitalized After New Hampshire Car Crash

Manchester, N.H. - Former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. “Rudy” Giuliani was hospitalized this weekend following a two‐vehicle collision on Interstate 93 and is expected to remain under medical care for several days, his office confirmed Monday.
The 81-year-old Giuliani sustained a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg, after the Ford Bronco in which he was a passenger was struck from behind at high speed. The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. Saturday in Manchester, New Hampshire, when a Honda HR-V driven by 19-year-old Lauren Kemp of Concord collided with the back of Giuliani’s vehicle, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Giuliani’s spokesman and head of security, Michael Ragusa, said in a statement that the former mayor had stopped earlier on the highway to assist a woman reporting a domestic violence incident. After ensuring she was safe and contacting 911, Giuliani reentered his rental Bronco, which was being driven by his adviser, Theodore Goodman, when the collision occurred. “This was not a targeted attack,” Ragusa emphasized, noting Giuliani’s gratitude for the outpouring of support.
Both Kemp and Goodman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, and the New Hampshire State Police continue to investigate.
Giuliani’s condition “continues to improve,” Ragusa said, and the former mayor is expected to be discharged later this week. “This is a man who survived 9/11 - so a little car accident won’t be slowing him down,” he added. Giuliani thanked his medical team and supporters in a social media post on Sunday, with his son Andrew Giuliani praising the “prayers” and calling his father “the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen!”
Rudolph Giuliani served as New York City’s mayor from 1994 to 2001, earning acclaim for his leadership after the September 11 attacks, and later held roles as U.S. Associate Attorney General and personal attorney to President Donald Trump. This latest incident marks the most recent in a series of health scares for Giuliani, who has faced legal challenges stemming from his post-2020 election activities.
