Target Keeps Stores Open with Regular Hours on Labor Day

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 1, 2025 - Target Corporation announced today that all of its U.S. stores will remain open for regular business hours on Labor Day, continuing its tradition of serving customers on the federal holiday.
According to a company spokesperson, Target locations will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time, with individual-store hours posted on Target.com and in-store entrances. Shoppers are advised to confirm hours via the Target mobile app or customer service ahead of visiting, as select pharmacies within Target may follow adjusted schedules.
In addition to staying open, Target is featuring end-of-summer markdowns across apparel, outdoor furnishings and seasonal decor. The retailer’s Labor Day deals include discounts on paper goods, grilling essentials and back-to-school supplies, all promoted through its weekly circular effective this week.
“Labor Day is one of the busiest shopping days of the year, and we’re committed to providing our guests with both convenience and value,” said Brian Cornell, Target’s Chairman and CEO. “By maintaining our standard hours and offering compelling promotions, we aim to make last-minute purchases seamless for families celebrating the holiday,” he added.
While some retailers elect to close on Labor Day, Target joins competitors such as Walmart and Kroger in welcoming holiday shoppers. With essentials readily available, guests planning barbecues or back-to-school preparations can rely on Target’s consistent schedule and ongoing markdowns throughout the day.
