Warwick Davis to Reprise Professor Flitwick in HBO’s Harry Potter Series

London, September 1, 2025 - In a surprise announcement timed to coincide with the annual “Back to Hogwarts” celebration, HBO confirmed today that Warwick Davis will return to the wizarding world as Professor Filius Flitwick in its forthcoming Harry Potter television adaptation. Davis, who originated the role of the Charms master in the original film franchise, becomes the first actor from the film series to reprise his role for the new series.
The streamer revealed that production on the multi-season show began this summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire. Alongside Davis’s return, additional cast members were unveiled, including Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey.
The series, adapted from J.K. Rowling’s celebrated novels, is being showrun and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. Executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman. HBO has pledged a faithful retelling of the books’ storylines, free from the time constraints of feature films, and plans to debut the first season in 2027.
Fans worldwide have embraced today’s news, marking September 1 as “Back to Hogwarts” day to celebrate the start of each new school term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With Davis’s return bridging the original films and the new series, anticipation is building for a comprehensive exploration of the magical saga’s beloved characters and untold stories.
