Angels Top Royals 5-1 Behind Adell’s Homer, Bullpen Shine

KANSAS CITY, Sept. 2, 2025 - The Los Angeles Angels snapped their three-game skid with a 5-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Jo Adell’s two-run blast in the sixth inning ignited Los Angeles’s offense, and a swarming bullpen preserved the lead.
Jo Adell lifted a curveball from Michael Lorenzen into the left-center bleachers for his 32nd homer of the season, giving the Angels a 2-1 edge with two outs in the sixth. In the seventh, a pair of timely hits-Chris Taylor’s run-scoring double and one-out RBI knock by Oswaldo Peraza-pushed the cushion to 4-1. Bryce Teodosio added a sac fly in the ninth to cap the scoring.
Starter Michael Farris (1-0) delivered five strong innings, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts. The Angels bullpen followed with four scoreless frames, combining for five punchouts and four walks. Kenley Jansen slammed the door in the ninth for his 28th save.
Los Angeles improved to 65-73, moving within three games of .500 in the AL West. Kansas City fell to 70-69 despite a quality effort from Lorenzen (5-9), who yielded two runs over six innings.
Next up, Game 2 of the three-game set is scheduled for Wednesday night in Kansas City.
