Anthropic Secures $13 Billion Series F, Valuing AI Startup at $183 Billion

San Francisco, Sept. 2 - Anthropic, the artificial-intelligence company behind the Claude models, announced today that it has raised $13 billion in a Series F funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $183 billion. This financing round was led by ICONIQ Capital, with co-leads Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners, and included participation from sovereign wealth funds and institutional investors such as BlackRock, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, Insight Partners, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, and Qatar Investment Authority.
The new capital will enable Anthropic to accelerate enterprise adoption of its AI platform, deepen its safety research initiatives, and expand its international presence. According to the company, annual recurring revenue has surged from $1 billion at the start of 2025 to $5 billion as of August, driven by accelerated API usage and a sevenfold increase in “large accounts” each generating over $100,000 in run-rate revenue. Anthropic now serves over 300,000 business customers, with its developer-focused Claude Code product alone generating more than $500 million in run-rate revenue, and usage growing more than tenfold in the past three months.
“Investors’ extraordinary confidence in our financial performance reflects the strength of our collaboration and the rapid growth we’re experiencing,” said Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic. “This financing positions us to continue delivering reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems to businesses, developers, and power users worldwide”.
Anthropic’s Series F marks one of the largest fundraises in the AI sector to date, underscoring the escalating investor interest in generative AI and its applications across industries. The company plans to allocate the funds to scale its infrastructure, enhance model safety and alignment research, and support entry into new geographic markets.
