Ashlee Simpson Named as Presenter for 2025 MTV VMAs

New York, Sept. 2, 2025 - MTV has revealed part of the star-studded lineup for the upcoming Video Music Awards, and pop singer Ashlee Simpson is among the celebrities set to take the stage as a presenter. The 2025 VMAs will be broadcast live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV.

According to MTV’s announcement, Simpson will join her older sister, Jessica Simpson, alongside other luminaries such as Ciara, Drew Barrymore, Ice Spice, Paris Hilton, and more to hand out Moonpersons during the ceremony. This appearance marks one of Simpson’s most high-profile television engagements this year, coming on the heels of her successful Las Vegas residency, “I Am Me,” which she launched in late August.

The network also unveiled the performance lineup for both the VMAs pre-show and the Extended Play Stage. The pre-show will feature performances by global girl group KATSEYE, while the in-show Extended Play Stage, presented by Doritos®, will spotlight first-time nominees Bailey Zimmerman featuring The Kid LAROI, Lola Young, and Megan Moroney.

Simpson’s inclusion in the presenters list underscores her ongoing resurgence in the music world. Earlier this year, she celebrated her 11th wedding anniversary with actor Evan Ross during one of her Las Vegas shows, sneak-kissing him mid-performance as fans cheered.

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will honor the most memorable artists and videos of the year, with Lady Gaga leading nominations at 12 nods, followed by acts such as Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. The ceremony will also feature special honorees including Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin, and Busta Rhymes.

Viewers can tune in live on Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV, or stream the event on Paramount+.
