Bobby Cannavale Stars in First Rehearsal Photos for Broadway Revival of Art and Talks to TODAY

NEW YORK (Sept. 2, 2025) - Today saw two major developments involving Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale as he gears up for the highly anticipated Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza’s play Art.

Shortly after previews began on August 28, Playbill released an exclusive gallery of rehearsal photographs featuring Cannavale alongside James Corden and Neil Patrick Harris. In the images, Cannavale-who portrays Marc, the friend who loathes a stark white painting that tests the bonds of his longtime trio-is seen rehearsing pivotal scenes under director Scott Ellis, offering theatergoers their first glimpse of the dynamic staging and costume design in progress.

On the same day, TODAY.com premiered a video in which Cannavale, Corden, and Harris discuss their excitement about reuniting on Broadway. Cannavale reflected on returning to live theater after his Emmy-winning TV work, emphasizing the unique challenges of sustaining comedic timing on stage and the thrill of engaging directly with audiences each night.

This revival marks the first Broadway mounting of Art since its original 1998 run and reunites three acclaimed performers whose onstage chemistry has already generated significant buzz. The limited engagement at the Music Box Theatre officially opens on September 16 and runs through December 21.
