Bringing Up Bates Star Erin Bates Remains in ICU Following Septic Shock

September 2, 2025 (Nashville) - Erin Bates Paine, known for UPtv’s Bringing Up Bates, continues to fight for her health in the intensive care unit after giving birth to her seventh child, son Henry Blythe Paine, on August 25.

Erin developed a severe urinary tract infection and kidney infection during labor, which escalated into septic shock. Her husband, Chad Paine, shared on Instagram that although baby Henry is doing well in the NICU, Erin remains hospitalized as doctors “continue to treat, diagnose, and search for answers” following the life-threatening complications.

A graduate of the Bates family’s reality franchise, Erin’s health struggles date back years. She has faced multiple miscarriages attributed to a blood-clotting disorder and has undergone surgeries, including the removal of all or part of both ovaries and her gallbladder, due to complications from cysts and other health issues. Despite medical advice cautioning against further pregnancies, Erin and Chad embraced their expanding family, welcoming six children between 2015 and 2023 before baby Henry’s arrival.
